Robert "Bob" Gromand, age 77, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on January 29, 2026. He was born on February 29, 1948, to Alberta and Louis Gromand in Chicago, Illinois.
He is survived by his lifelong love, Lou Ann Marti; devoted friends; and many cousins: Edward Wimmer III (Barbara), Meg Winkler (Dennis Hall), Edward Wimmer IV (Elisabeth), Erin Eimer (Correy), Chris Winkler (Miriam), Rob Dahl (Kristy), and others.
Burial will be held at Heritage Acres on February 18, 2026.
Robert attended high school at Millersburg Military Academy in Lexington, Kentucky. He later studied at the Gebhardt Art School, where he began a lifelong pursuit of artistic expression. He became an accomplished painter and printmaker, later exploring sculpture as another medium through which to see and shape the world.
While fine art was his great passion, his curiosity stretched far beyond the canvas. He loved sport bikes, vintage motorcycles, British sports cars, music, reading, history, scientific inquiry, the natural world, and the loyal companionship of the many cats and dogs he rescued.
Robert will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, intelligence, and enduring youthful spirit. He moved easily among people of all ages and backgrounds, always ready with insight, conversation, or a helping hand. No matter the season or the weather, he also remained steadfast in his quiet devotion to caring for feral cats.
Robert will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of his life will be held on May 2 in Cincinnati, where his artistic works will be displayed and available for purchase, honoring both his creative spirit and his compassion for animals.
