Robert Joseph Guerrina

Robert "Rob"Joseph Guerrina, 81, died on January 7, 2024 at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester, VT with his wife and son at his side.
Rob was born in New York City on November 28, 1942 and grew up in Pittsfield, MA. He has spent the past 58 years living in Swanton and, most recently, Burlington,VT. He graduated from Pittsfield High School, attended RPI in Troy, NY, and graduated from New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA.
Rob's first love is his family-his wife, Mary Jane (Mitchell), his son Robert, Jr. and two granddaughters Sophie and Lila, and his son Sean and three grandsons Trevor, Tyler, and Tucker. His second love, music, started at the age of four when he received his first accordion. He started performing professionally at the age of 13 and continued until his late 70's when arthritis put an end to his keyboard playing. He played it all from classical to show tunes to church hymns but was happiest playing jazz with his numerous musician friends. His third love was traveling and he and his wife visited four continents and the Caribbean.
Rob spent 35 years sharing his love of and talent for music with thousands of students. He taught Jr./Sr. high school in Winooski, then was an itinerant teacher traveling to Highgate, Sheldon, Franklin, and Swanton, and finished his teaching career full time in Swanton. After retiring, he spent several years delivering Meals-on-Wheels in Highgate and Swanton.
Rob is predeceased by his parents, Louis Guerrina and Mafalda Bava Guerrina, and the mother of his sons, Margaret Crane. In addition to his wife, sons, and grandchildren he is also survived by four brothers and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 160 Hinesburg Road, South Burlington, VT on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 11:30am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery.
