Robert Heron Haile

Robert Heron Haile, Sr., 83, of Chapin, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024. Mr. Haile was born in Newberry, SC, a son of the late John Gary and Hazel Louise Heron Haile. He was married to the late Mary Ruth Slice Haile. Mr. Haile was a member of Chapin Baptist Church. He was a member of the 1959 Chapin High School graduating class. Anyone who knew him knew he loved his Clemson Tigers and cherished his friends and family. He enjoyed taking his family out on the lake in the boat he was refurbishing for 20 years. He loved to hunt on his family homestead in Jenkinsville and relive the old days from Haile’s Restaurant in Newberry. He enjoyed telling stories about the old days of Newberry, Chapin, Parr and Jenkinsville.

Surviving are his children, Donna Haile Keller and Robert H. Haile, Jr. (Dayne); grandchildren, Justin Keller, Austin K. McLawhorn (Scott), Joshua Keller, Brittany Barr, Cole Haile (Alex), Shawn Haile; and a great-grandchild, Ava Grace Haile, and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his sister, Linda Sue Haile Fauhl (Alan). In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sylvia Haile Yellen.

A memorial service for Mr. Haile will be held on April 21, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive visitors at 2:00 p.m. at Chapin Baptist Church. Clemson attire is welcome.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crooked Creek Park Senior Adult Program. Mr. Haile thoroughly enjoyed his time with his friends at the park.
