Obituary published on Legacy.com by Voran Funeral Home - Taylor Chapel on Mar. 11, 2026.
Robert "Bob" Jr. Hall was born on April 10, 1943, in
Teaberry, Kentucky, to Robert and Bessie Hall. A longtime resident of
Taylor, Michigan, Bob passed away on March 8, 2026, at the age of 82.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Martha Hall; his sister, Mary Hicks; and his loving daughters, Debbie (Gregg) Craddock, Robin (Mario) Burns, and Lisa Schultz. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Bob (Jacki) Thompson, Tony (Hope) Craddock, David (Michelle) Thompson, Haley (Barry) Dyer, Kala (Zack) Kirby, Rachel (Ryan) Featherstone, and Brandon (Elizabeth) Chappelle, as well as 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Wilma Koller, and his great-grandson Ryder Kirby. Bob is also survived by many other loving family members and dear friends.
Bob dedicated more than 30 years of hard work to McLouth Steel, where he had a long and proud career.
Bob spent his time doing the things he loved most, especially being with family. He cherished his time "up north," where he was affectionately known as "Drifter." Hunting, fishing, gardening, and building things with his hands were among his favorite pastimes. He enjoyed relaxing in his recliner and watching his favorite television shows-WWE, cowboy classics, and court shows like Gunsmoke and Judge Judy. He also loved playing poker with his kids and grandkids-especially when he managed to take everyone's money at the table.
Bob took great pride in his classic custom Jeep and loved cruising Telegraph with the music turned up. Some of his happiest moments were taking his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for rides, blasting his tunes and sending the kids into giggle fits.
He was fiercely protective of his family-no one dared to mess with them. Among his grandchildren, the legendary "Papaw thumb lock" became a well-known reminder of that playful authority. Later in life, after he lost his voice, Bob would communicate with his talker, often using it to "beep beep" at those around him, bringing smiles and laughter to the room.
A man of routine and strong character, Bob was steadfast, spirited, and uncompromising. He could be stubborn and candid, yet deeply loving. He was the patriarch of his family-strong, dependable, sometimes silly, and always present.
As we say goodbye to Robert "Bob" Jr. Hall, we celebrate a life well lived. His spirit will forever remain a part of the lives he touched, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
No formal services will be held at the funeral home. A celebration of life will be planned for July when we can take him on his last cruise on Telegraph. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Taylor Chapel of Voran Funeral Home, 23750 Goddard Road. (313) 291-1800. Family and friends are invited to share memories and leave condolences in Robert's guestbook on his tribute wall.
