Robert L. Harding, 66, of Weare, NH died March 23, 2009 at the VA Medical Center in Manchester following an illness. He was born on March 18, 1943 in Quincy, MA the son of the late Kenneth L. and Mary Mildred (Moody) Harding. He was raised and educated in the Wollaston/Quincy area. Robert graduated from North Quincy High School. Later he graduated from Northeastern University with a BA. During the Vietnam Era he served two tours of duty in the US Marine Corp, flying numerous fighter pilot and med-evac missions, and receiving numerous awards for valor. He worked as a supervisor for the US Postal Service at the Manchester Processing and Distribution Center for twenty-three years. He enjoyed coin collecting, reading, camping, traveling, history and spending time with his children. He also enjoyed picnics, the outdoors and gardening. He was a member of the National Association of Postal Supervisors and a life member of Phi Sigma Kappa at Northeastern University Robert is survived by his son, Ryan Harding of Weare, NH; daughter, Katharine-Lee Harding of Bedford, NH; brother, Kenneth Chester "Chet" Harding and his wife Frances of Goodyear, AZ; sister, Mary M. Birnie and her husband John of Pittsburgh, PA; former wife, Nancy Harding of Bedford, NH 2 nephews and 3 nieces. The family would like to express their gratitude to the exceptional staff at the VA Hospital who were a blessing during this difficult time. Calling Hours are at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St, Manchester on Thursday (today) from 2-4 and 7-9PM. His Graveside Service with military honors will be held at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 DW Highway, Boscawen on Friday at 10:00AM. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the VAMC, Nursing Home, 718 Smyth Road, Manchester, NH 03104.
