My favourite actor. His dulcet tones and his mastery of the spoken word - an inspiration. A beautiful man, his loss fills me with pain and yearning - though with never met. First saw Robert Hardy at Stratford in 1949 and am grateful to him for so many inspiring performances since then, in particular as Siegfried Farnon. Who else could have played Churchill with such consummate skill? Watching this greatest of actors on stage in Richmond in 'God and Stephen Hawking' and meeting him in Cardiff at his lecture on Agincourt were highlights in my life.

I have fond memories of watching All Creatures Great And Small....Robert Hardy was the perfect English gentleman and it was an honour to meet him when he stayed at the hotel I worked in back in the nineties....Rest in peace.

Upon learning of the passing of Robert, I wish to send deepest condolences to all.

As a child I loved British comedies and other television shows - Of course I still do. My favorite was All Creatures Great and Small. It really captured the daily life experiences of a veterinarian. I tried to be a veterinarian several years ago. Unfortunately I could not comprehend the chemistry courses. Over the years I have had the luxury of many creatures - dogs, cats, birds and fish. They have enriched my life enormously and are still a huge part of my lifestyle.

I have also watched other television shows and movies for which Robert had a huge presence of articulating the role brilliantly. He was truly gifted and gave so much to the profession.

Remember you gave Robert the best - your time and your love, for these are the greatest gifts. There is no right or wrong way to mourn - those left behind are given memories filed from conversations, photographs and get-togethers as treasured keepsakes forever. Keep them close to your heart.

May your faith, friends and community reach out to you during this difficult time. And that you and Robert are given much respect and privacy as you prepare for the days ahead.
