In memory of
Robert Peri
July 28, 2016
My condolences and prayers go out to the entire Hargus family on their loss of a dear man. May he rest in peace.
Robert Hargus and H&H Cycles was the "Cheers" of the motorbike community. He knew everyone and he welcomed all into his shop / home with a wry smile and and half-shouted "Ya wanta beer?" as he cracked open the fridge. He was a bike doctor and a great friend to all - if you knew him, you know what I mean.
I think the best way to put my ten year relationship with him is this: whenever I rolled into the shop, I never felt like a customer. I was always treated like a friend who needed help fixing his bike so that he could get back on the road. His garage door was [metaphorically] always open and he always greeted me with a warm smile - whether I was dropping the bike off or just dropping my to shoot the bull...
God spoke through Robert's hands. He kept all of us safely on the road with well maintained bikes. He made us smile in wonder at his creative art projects. Before I knew him, I guess he opened eyes and turned heads with his restored hot rods. He worked on my bike two weeks before he left us and I actually sat and watched him for over two hours. He was a good teacher.
I will miss my mentor, mechanic and friend.
I think I'll have that beer now....

I met Robert at Cain's in Beeville in 1960. We became best of friends, and are to this day. To me, he was like a brother. We talked for almost an hour just last week, right before I went into the hospital. I am not physically able to come to his memorial. I will miss him and love him for the rest of my life. I know he is in God's arms.

We only have good memories of our times with Robert! Alton and Robert worked together for years and remained long time friends. Robert called Alton about 3-4 weeks ago and it was so good to talk about old times. He was a wonderful and very caring man and always so fun to be around.
Bobbie we are very sorry and send our deepest sympathies to you and the family.
I regret that we will not be able to make the service but out thoughts and prayers are with you!
Take care, Alton & Katy Crouch
