Robert "Rob" Jerome Harty II

Robert Jerome Harty II, known to all as Rob, passed away, after a cardiac event on September 21, 2025, at the age of 53. Born on May 19, 1972, in Poughkeepsie, NY, Rob was the beloved son of Barbara and the late Bob Harty.

Rob is survived by his devoted wife, Christy, and their three children, Grace, Abigail, and Collin - his greatest blessings. He cherished every moment with them. Rob beamed with pride for his children, so proud of every accomplishment they achieved and challenge they ever overcame. Nothing brought him greater joy than watching his children do what they loved, except for maybe watching a good cartoon with them.

He is also survived by his brother Jason Harty and his wife Liz; his in-laws Karol & Hector Tapias, Peter & Katie Chandler, Ben & Sandi Chandler, Michael & Erin Chandler, John & Charlotte Chandler, and Steven Chandler. He was a proud uncle to Olivia, June, Parker, Catalina Anne, Claire, Livvie, Henley, Henry, Jack, Hayes, and Julia. He is also survived by his mother and father in law, Maureen and Peter Chandler.

He was predeceased mother and father-in-law, JoAnne and Ed Markosky, whom he adored.

A lifelong friend to his "core four" - Kevin Gilmartin, Erik Grutzner, and Anthony Ruggerio - Rob's friendships reflected his loyalty, warmth, and humor.

Rob grew up in Poughkeepsie, where he was a proud Eagle Scout and baseball player. His love for the game continued as an NCAA umpire, where he found deep friendship with his fellow "umpire brothers." As a dad, he continued to share his passion for the game by coaching youth baseball and basketball, teaching not just skills but teamwork, resilience, and joy for the game.

Raising his family in Roxbury was one of his greatest joys. He loved every moment of country living, especially the community he found there. Each year, one of his favorite traditions was donning the red suit and delighting children as Santa Claus, riding into the town Christmas tree lighting on a horse-drawn carriage.

Above all, Rob's legacy is one of love - for his family, friends, and community. His kind heart and deep devotion to his wife and children will be remembered by all who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Road, Danbury, CT.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New England Donor Services. Memorial contribution to New England Donor Services can be made online at the link below or by mail at 60 First Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451.

I´m so very sorry to hear about Rob´s passing. He and I played on so many baseball and basketball teams back in the day, with Mr. Janicik, Clark, Gerr, etc. And then Scout events at his house and church activities. He was always so positive and outgoing and warm. I do, and will, remember him very fondly. My sincere condolences to his family & Mrs. Harty & Jason.
