TROY - Robert F. "Bobby" Hastings III, 72, of Troy, N.Y., passed away on January 17, 2026. A lifelong resident of Troy, Bobby was known for his steady presence, his dedication to his family, and his legendary, unwavering loyalty to the Boston Red Sox.
Born on February 6, 1953, to the late Robert F. Hastings II and Marion J. Hastings, Bobby was a man who never met a stranger. He was an amazing salesman, possessing a natural charisma and a gift for conversation that allowed him to connect with anyone he met. Whether he was closing a deal or debating a box score, Bobby had a way of making people listen and laugh.
Beyond the sales floor and the ballpark, Bobby had a deep and lifelong love for cars, especially convertibles. There was nothing he enjoyed more than the feeling of the open air and the freedom of the road. A true member of Red Sox Nation, he lived through the long drought, finally seeing the "curse" broken during the historic 2004 World Series win, a moment of pure joy he cherished and shared with everyone around him.
He is reunited in peace with his parents; and his beloved sister, Deborah J. O'Sullivan.
Bobby's legacy lives on through his devoted wife, Colleen Hastings (née Bowen); his three sons, Scott Hastings (fiancée Frences Berja), Eric Hastings (wife Amanda), and Patrick Hastings. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Morrison; and many nieces and nephews. His life was further enriched by the enduring bond he shared with Justin and Meghan DiGuilio and their families, who held a place in his heart as his own kin.
In honor of Bobby's life, the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the ALS Hope Foundation.
