Robert E. "Bob" Hau, age 83, of Glenbeulah, passed away peacefully at home on September 28, 2024.
He was born in the Town of Greenbush on November 7, 1940, a son of the late Gregory and Dolores (Mueller) Hau. Bob attended St. Cloud grade schools and graduated from Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah High School in 1959.
Following high school, Bob served in the United States Army, serving 1 year in Korea. He worked at Borden's for 1 year, before being called back to serve during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After serving our country, Bob returned to work at Borden's for 40 years. He also worked at KW Electric and Knowles Manufacturing, and served on the Greenbush Fire Dept. for 25 years.
On November 30, 1963, he married Jane Bergs at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holyland – St. Cloud Parish, serving as an usher for many years.
Bob loved life on the farm. He never sat still and could often be found walking around the farm and enjoyed picking stones, bailing hay, and raising dairy heifers. Bob was a true engineer and took pride in building things by hand. He always took the back roads to enjoy the country scenery and enjoyed polka dancing, playing cards, Brett Favre, Jordy Nelson, and spending time with his loving family.
Survivors include: His loving wife, Jane; Four children: Joe (Cheri) Hau of Plymouth, Amy (Mike) Entringer of Glenbeulah, Katie (Mike) Meyer of Plymouth, and Brad (Peggy) Hau of De Pere; 11 Grandchildren: Alli (JB), Kelsey (Nathaniel), Sophie (Adam), Zachary (Niki), Nick (significant other, Sam), Adam (Jana), Andrew (Holli), Gabe (significant other, Claire), Benjamin, Seth (Elizabeth), and Cole (Kiera); 6 Great-grandchildren: Hudson, Willa, August, Clara, Hadley, and Beau.
He is further survived by: His siblings: Dave (Barbara) Hau, Jerry (Julie) Hau, Ken (Sandy) Hau, Mary (Fred) Ferguson, Dean (Kaye) Hau, and Gary (Jenny) Hau; Sisters-in-law: Marlene (Warren) Schueffner, Joan Hau and Barb Hau; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by: His parents; Parents-in-law, Joseph and Esther Bergs; Grandson, Michael J. Meyer; and Brothers: Fred and Allen Hau.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday (October 3, 2024) at 11:00am at Our Lady of the Holyland – St. Cloud Parish.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday (October 2, 2024) from 3:00-7:00pm at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth, and again on Thursday (Oct. 3) at Our Lady of the Holyland – St. Cloud Parish, from 10:00-11:00am, with Mass to follow at 11:00am. Interment and Military Rites will follow Mass in the Parish Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Bob's name.
The family would like to send special thanks to: The Aurora-at-Home Hospice Team (Amber, Courtney, Megan, and Tameka), and to Bob's caregivers (Pat, Indy, Amber, Lindsey, Mona, Jen, and Karen) for the extraordinary care and compassion given to Bob.
