Robert Vance “Bob” Hayes passed away Thursday, February 27, 2025 in Hanna Wyoming.
Robert was born to Melvin & Ruth Hayes May 30, 1941 in Rawlins Wyoming
He went to school in Rawlins Wyoming and spent his summers on his grandparents ranch on Rattlesnake pass. That is where he knew he wanted to be a cowboy. He married Sharon Peterson in 1960 they had 5 children. After the 3rd child he told his wife that a cowboy’s wage don’t pay enough for a family he had to get a real job.
What kind of job can a cowboy do? Drive truck! He worked for Ruan Trucking, Neuman Transit, Sinclair Refinery, Cal Gas. He eventually was able to buy his own truck and become his own boss and to be able to sign his own paycheck. He hauled anything and everything that would fit on a flat bed. He worked with numerous family members including his 3 sons. Bob said being a truck driver was a very good job as you get see so much and get paid.
In 2008 he settled in Riverton Wyoming and made many friends. In 2020 he finally retired. That gave him his freedom to enjoy life more. He loved to saddle up his horse and ride weather it was helping a neighbor push cattle or just enjoy the day in the saddle. Poker was another favorite past time of his. “Poker doesn’t owe me anything, but black jack is a different story “.
Robert is proceeded in death by his father Melvin; mother Ruth; 1st wife Sharon 2nd wife Connie; Brothers Irving, Dennis, Donnie; Son Marty; Granddaughters Gehuanna, and Danielle.
Robert survived by sister Nita Jean Niblet (Jerry) Eucalir WI; Sons Tim(Tawny) Rock Springs Wyoming children Cody, Archie, Stephanie; Grandson Colt; Bob (Jan) Torrington Wyoming children Eric, James; Jeff (Rob) Rock Springs; Daughter Rhonda Konrath (Mike) Walcott Wyoming children Samantha Saavedra (Marcos) children Alexia, Daymien; Seth Konrath (Ann) Hanna Wyoming son Conner; Jake Konrath (Cassi) Saratoga Wyoming children Riley, Jaiden, Avery, Coley; Numerous nieces & nephews.
Robert lived a full life. He loved to drive his pickup and ride his lawn mower. He didn’t have to drive many miles to have the time of his life seeing the sites. He would always say do you know how to kill time, murder success! :) He always had a tough style with razor wit.
Graveside service will be held @ 2:00 Monday, March 10, 2025 at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton Wyoming.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to Carbon County Sherriff's Office and Carbon County Search & Rescue for their dedication and support in the search for Robert. His family is forever grateful for them.
