Robert Herrell

Robert Wayne Herrell, age 72, of the Claxton Community, passed away at home, on the farm that he loved so much, surrounded by his family on September 18, 2015. He graduated from Clinton High School where he played football for the Clinton Dragons. He served four years in the U.S. Marines and worked for Rohm and Haas for 39 years before his retirement. Robert enjoyed working on his farm, landscaping and hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains. He loved hiking with the Thursday Hikers and by hiking every trail in the mountains, many times over, he became a member of the elite 900 Miler Club three times. He was a member of Faith Promise Church in Knoxville. Robert enjoyed his many years of serving the Lord as a Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church, Heiskell, TN. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Margaret Herrell. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Claxton Volunteer Fire Department, 2194 Clinton Highway, Powell, TN 37849, in memory of Robert Herrell and honor of Rick Herrell. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 22nd from 5-8PM at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral service will follow with Rev. Bruce Robinson officiating. Graveside service with full military honors will be Wednesday, September 23rd at 10:00 AM at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens.
