Robert Eugene Hessler Jr.

HESSLER, Robert Eugene Jr., 82, of Bon Air, died on March 2, 2009, after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Louise Hessler. Survivors include his devoted wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Mary Hessler; six children, Robert E. Hessler III and wife, Fran, Thomas M. Hessler and wife, Terri, Elizabeth M. Gutridge and husband, Bob, Mary H. Moss and husband, Tommy, John S. Hessler and fianc‚e, Jenny, and Christopher J. Hessler and friend, Janet; one brother, Harold R. Hessler and wife, Kim; one brother-in-law, Robert Elliott; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Hessler retired from Virginia Carolina Laundry Supply Company after many years of service. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. His remains rest at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2009, at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 2700 Dolfield Drive. Interment private.
