Robert F. Hobart

Robert Frank Hobart, 78, peacefully passed away March 12, 2026 at his home in Grayslake, IL. Born on June 20, 1947 in Chicago to Edward and Marion Hobart (nee Holy). Rob is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dinah/Diane Hobart; his children, Joanna (Patrick) Hogan and Ethan Robert Clay (Katie Rash) Hobart; and his grandchildren, Katie "Beth" Hogan and Connor "Robbie" Hogan. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Edward and John.

He joins his beloved dogs who were waiting for him at the "Rainbow Bridge": Clancy, Finnegan, Macduff, Katie, Molly, and Sassafras. There's even a fluffy rabbit named Snifter and a parakeet named Pecky waiting for him.

While Rob was a history fanatic since childhood, Rob also knew how to live in the moment. He cherished connections with people more than anything. He loved a good party or any excuse to get together, talk, laugh, or celebrate at Bohemian Crystal Restaurant with pork tenderloin and dumplings. To Rob, his best days were spent surrounded by family, friends, enjoying a good burger or slab of ribs, listening to some old-time Rock and Roll, or relaxing with his dog Clancy on his lap.  He was tickled to see his loved ones enjoy their life.

His kindness was most evident in his quiet service to others. After retiring as job coach from Lamb's Farm, in recent years, Rob dedicated his free time to the Lovell Federal Health Center, where he sat with veterans in hospice care, ensuring they were not alone as they passed from this life. His life touched so many of us and his love and friendship was a gift.

Memorial Mass: 10:00 AM at Divine Infant Jesus Catholic Church (1601 Newcastle Ave., Westchester).Reception: Around 12:30 PM, following the services, please join us for lunch at Q's Pizza (4841 Butterfield Rd., Hillside). This pizza is a lifelong Robbie favorite. The family invites all who knew Rob to attend and share their favorite memories at lunch.
