Robert F. Holbrook, lifelong resident of Warsaw, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at the age of 82. Known by everyone as “Fred”, he was born on April 7, 1940 to Clifford and Mary (Haas) Holbrook.
After graduating from Warsaw High School in 1958, Fred joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country as a trained torpedo-man on a submarine tender from 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1962. On April 11, 1964, Fred married the love of his life, Catherine Kingston. Together, they raised two daughters: Jennifer and Emily. He worked for R.R. Donnelly in the preliminary department until his retirement in 2000.
Fred was an avid sports fan, eagerly cheering on his favorite teams which include IU-Basketball, the Chicago Cubs, and the Chicago Bears. He also enjoyed traveling, visiting interesting places around the world, spending winters in Indian Shores, Florida, playing golf, and the guitar. With a quiet and mild manner, Fred had an easygoing personality and will be remembered as a family man who loved spending time with family, especially attending activities and sporting events of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Fred will be deeply missed by his wife of 58 years, Cathy; daughters, Jennifer (Jeff) Miller and Emily (Gary) Cowan; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Patrick) Girskis, Carleigh (Micah) Freeman, Chris (Ashley) Crovo, Mariah Miller, Kyle (Farrin Maples) O’Brien, Wesley Cowan, Kim (Josh) Wallen, Kyle Cowan; and great grandchildren, Emma, Bennett, Brooks, Abby, Harper, Nolan, Marleigh, Kendall, Karmyn, Claire, Peyton, Caroline, Christopher, Cora, Dean, Vincent, and Reif.
Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services is entrusted with Fred’s care. Friends and family may gather at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw, on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 2:00pm until 5:00pm. A funeral service will immediately follow. Burial will take place privately at Oakwood.
