Robert Holler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bevis Funeral Home - Tallahassee on Jan. 14, 2025.
Robert Clifton "Cliff" Holler of Tallahassee, Florida passed away on Tuesday, October
1st, 2024, at the age of 86. He was the son of the late Robert Clifton Holler Sr and
Ruth Fuquay Holler.
Cliff was born in Bluefield, West Virginia, but his family soon moved to Roanoke,
Virginia where he spent most of his early years. Before Cliff's junior year of high
school his family relocated to Columbia, South Carolina where he attended Dreher
High School and was a member of the tennis team.
Cliff went on to attend the University of South Carolina where he graduated with a
degree in civil engineering. While at USC, Cliff continued his love for tennis as a
player on the varsity team, and was also a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
Cliff eventually made his way to Tallahassee where he worked as a civil engineer
with the Federal Highway Administration. He retired from the FHWA in 1994, and
later became a consultant with Reynolds, Smith & Hills.
Cliff was an avid tennis player. He was a member of the Forest Meadows tennis club
where he continued to play until he was almost 80 years old. Cliff was also very
involved with the USTA Florida League. In addition to tennis, Cliff loved to dance and
had a great passion for music. He often told stories of his "shag dancing" trips to
Myrtle Beach, SC. Cliff loved his South Carolina Gamecocks and was a frequent
attendee of football games. Cliff also enjoyed traveling, as long as it took him to a
warm weather destination!
Cliff lived life to the fullest. He loved to tell stories, laugh, and he loved a good party.
He cherished his family, and the long term friends he made along the way.
Along with his parents, Cliff is preceded in death by his younger brother, James
Edward "Punky" Holler. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Annell Holler;
son, Robert Holler (Sylvia); daughter, Krista Blackburn (Jamie); sister, Barbara Hiller
(Sam); and four grandchildren, Carson Holler and Addison Holler Jones (Garrett),
and Davis and Hayes Blackburn.
The family will be holding a private celebration of life in Columbia. Memorials may
be made to the Alzheimer's Association North Florida Chapter, or to Big Bend Hospice.
Dayne Parker of Bevis Funeral Home (850-385-2193 or www.bevisfh.com ) is assisting
