On May 26, 1978, at the age of 18, Robert enlisted in the United States Army. Robert valued his service highly and attained the rank of Sergeant. During his time in the Army, Robert was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado three times. He was stationed in Uijeongbu, South Korea in 1979 where he met and married his soulmate, Pok Sun Cho. They were married on June 2, 1980. In November 1981 Robert and Pok's first child, Elric Cho (40), was born in Newport News, Virginia. In March 1983 their second and third children, Lora Jean (39) and Joyce Mable (39) were born on Langley Air Force base located in Hampton, Virginia.
Robert continued his service with the U.S. Army in Germany from 1985 to 1989. After Germany, he was stationed at Fort Carson once again until he left the U.S. Army on June 9, 1992. In 1990, Robert and his family settled in Fountain, Colorado. During his service, Robert served as a Tank Turret Repairer and a Watercraft Engineer where he fortified his love of tanks. Throughout Robert's life, he had found a fondness of building and motorizing WWII replica model tanks.
Post Army service, Robert pursued his degree and received his Associate of Applied Science in Networking Technology in May 2004 from Pikes Peak Community College. He went on to work in careers in leadership, organization, and problem solving.

He was the stoic yet knowledgeable father of my best friends Joyce and Lora ,and their older brother Elric. He was always trying to advise us on how to go about our most inadvisable endeavors...such as catching black widows and keeping them as pets . His wife and him were very accommodating to my younger brother and I. Being neighbors to him and his family will always remain a bright light in my past.

Love,
Jennifer Ryan
