Robert Lewis Hoyle

Robert Lewis Hoyle passed away peacefully in his home on October 29th, 2025 in Dripping Springs, Texas. He was born in Anderson, Indiana on January 7th, 1930 to Arthur and Madeline Hoyle.

Bob was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle and company colleague, loved dearly by his friends, family, neighbors and co-workers. He had a successful career as an accountant, defined largely by his years at American Smelting and Refining Company (ASARCO). His experiences with ASARCO significantly shaped his life. During his time with the company, he visited, lived and worked in numerous countries, including Spain, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, Australia, England, Perú, Costa Rica, and México. While working in the Mexican state of Coahuila he became a fluent Spanish speaker and, more importantly, he met and married Olga María Santos, the love of his life and mother of their only child, Rafael Dent. Bob was a wonderful father to Rafael and a terrific husband to Olga. In Olga's final years he rose to yet another level as a champion and companion, lovingly caring for Olga as she battled the illness that ultimately took her life. He was devoted to the end.

Bob spent his early formative years in southern Colorado and New Mexico. He had fond memories of the beautiful San Luis Valley and the town of Monte Vista, where he grew up with his hard-working parents and cherished siblings Maryon, Charles, Julia and Janey. While living in Albuquerque he joined the U.S. Army, returning after his discharge to attend the University of New Mexico under the G.I. Bill. The latter chapters of his life took place in Texas, where he resided for nearly 40 years. He did not consider himself a "real Texan" but celebrated the fact that his three grandsons, Jacob, John and Jaret, were "Texas born and bred". He loved his grandsons so much and proudly wore a Dripping Springs High School baseball cap until the day he died. It was in "Dripping" that Bob lived his last days, across the street from his beloved son Rafael and daughter-in-law Risa. Bob loved and admired Risa, and was deeply grateful to her for the care she selflessly provided him as he approached the end of his life.

Bob came to his eternal resting place at the age of 95 in the comfort of his own home. He will be greatly missed by the many who loved him, enjoyed his friendship, and recognized him as an example to follow.

Private memorial services for family will be held in Houston and Monte Vista.
