Robert Wayne Hunter “Courage”, born on May 20, 1957, in Marlin, Texas, passed away on February 17, 2026, in Long Beach, Mississippi. He spent his early years in Marlin, before moving to Addis, Louisiana, where he met his beloved wife, Phyllis, at a Bike Rally. Together, they moved to South Mississippi 30 years ago and shared a wonderful life filled with love and adventure.
Robert had a fulfilling career as a diesel mechanic, working in numerous places throughout his life. He was not only a dedicated worker; he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and a passionate Harley enthusiast. He served as the President of the Southern Independent Riders Motorcycle Club, he fostered a strong sense of community and camaraderie among fellow bikers. His generosity extended to those in need, as he was a proud supporter of the St. Jude Dream Day Foundation, organizing annual fundraisers that raised significant amounts of money for children.
In his spare time, Robert loved spending time outdoors, enjoying camping, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. His zest for life and adventure made him a cherished figure among his friends and family. Most whom loved and cherish him would tell you that they felt protected by him. Although, he was really a big teddy bear and would give you the shirt off his back.
Robert is survived by his loving spouse, Phyllis Hunter. He was the proud father of Monica Allen (Jimmy), Bridget Hunter, Levi Huffman, Brittney Hunter (Clifford Nettles), and Brianna Hunter (Dylan Asher). His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Arieonna Fox (Austin), Kathan Allen (Morgan Evans), Shyla Allen, Crisslyn Lummus, Christina Huffman, Jeree Huffman, Kai Wayne Hoang, Lee Joseph Hoang, Clifford Lavon Nettles, Courage Lee Nettles, Barrett Asher, and Mazie Asher. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Jaxstin Bourg, A.J Fox, Archie Fox, and Sailor Allen. Robert is remembered fondly by his siblings, Paula Jewell, Judy Magee (Doyle), and Terry Hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alvis Hunter, his uncles, Jessie Aguillard, Elmer, David, and Tommy Hunter, and his brother-in-law, Matt Jewell. Robert Wayne Hunter will be missed dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A visitation will be 10:00am - 12:00pm, Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, Long Beach.
