Robert Allen Hurwitz, a man whose zest for life was as vast as the ocean he so loved, passed away on December 1, 2025, at his home in
Rockwall, Texas. Born on February 2, 1954, in Key West, Florida, Robert's early years were spent under the warm Floridian sun, a fitting prelude to the brightness he would carry throughout his life.
The son of the late Joseph B. Hurwitz and Jeanne (DeGraw) Hurwitz, Robert inherited a spirit of resilience and joy that he held close to his heart until his final days. His beloved wife, Sharon Katherine Hurwitz, who predeceased him by just under a year, was the love of his life, and together they raised their daughter, Hannah Hurwitz, who along with her spouse, Kobe Foster, survives him. Robert also leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter with his siblings, Joanne Ethridge, Barbara Hurwitz, and William "Jack" Hurwitz, all of whom shared in the adventure that was his life.
Robert's professional journey was as diverse and vibrant as his personality. He was a jack of all trades, whose career as a computer programmer was marked by his innate talent for problem-solving and his eagerness to assist anyone in need. Colleagues knew him as the go-to guy, not just for his keenness and vast intelligence, but for a dose of good cheer and optimism.
His adventurous spirit extended far beyond the workplace. Robert was a lover of the great outdoors, with a particular passion for water sports and scuba diving. He explored the depths of the sea with the same enthusiasm he brought to every aspect of his life. An avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, he never missed a game, and his infectious enthusiasm made him the centerpiece of any game day gathering.
Robert's interests were a reflection of his loving nature. His daughter's Husky, Oxsana, was a source of immense joy for him, and his affection for her was a testament to his capacity for love, which he extended to all creatures great and small.
Those who knew Robert would describe him as the embodiment of love and optimism. His smile was a beacon of hope, and his laughter a melody that could lighten the heaviest of hearts. He approached every day with an open heart and a belief in the goodness of life, inspiring those around him to do the same. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
