Robert E. Immel

Robert "Bob," "Buff" Ernest Immel, 82, passed away peacefully after a lengthy struggle with chronic pain on Thursday, November 20th at Aurora Hospital in Fond du Lac. He was born December 10, 1942 to the late Gordon and Alice (Ottery) Immel.
Bob was very proud of his honorable service in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1968 in Vietnam, Thailand and Korea as a rifle and pistol sharpshooter. He was married to Darlene Anne Lange on December 4, 1976.
Bob belonged to Operating Engineers Local 139. He worked as an operator for asphalt companies for many years. He also farmed horses, goats and pigs.
Bob adored his constant companion and side-kick, Sadie. They enjoyed rides together, whether it be the Gator or truck. He enjoyed snowmobiling and playing cards. Bob and Darlene enjoyed going to restaurants and supper clubs together. He was a member of the "Oldtimers," the "Retirees" and the "Old Friends' Breakfast Club."
More than anything else, Bob loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren with all his heart.
Bob is survived by his children through marriage Maryanne Barton, Ruth (Jeff) Kohlmann, Jackie (Nick) Nienhaus and Howard Bagley; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings Gordon "Junior" Immel, Jr., Kathy Blatz, John (Sue) Immel, Mike (Kathy) Immel and Sue (Phill) Lefeber, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, Darlene, and parents, Bob was preceded in death by two children through marriage, Robert Bagley and Cindy Long, Maryanne's husband, Roy Barton and siblings Christina Immel, Mary (Pete) Rohlfs, Linda (Bernard) Brenner and other extended family members.
SERVICES: Bob's family invites relatives and friends for a time of visitation on Monday, December 1st to Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, Eden from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation. Military honors will be presented at the church. Bob will be laid to rest at St. Michael's Cemetery in Dotyville beside his wife, Darlene.

The family is grateful to the Aurora hospice team, including: the Aurora nursing staff, Dani, Tiffani, Rachel, Olivia, Mari and Beth, as well as Betty, his in-home caregiver and the many doctors at the V.A. Hospital. Bob's family extends a heartfelt thank you to Jeff Lefeber for being Bob's "go-to" buddy and for taking care of Sadie. The family would also like to extend great appreciation to the staff of Heartfelt Floral and Zacherl Funeral Home for their service.
