Robert Lewis Jackson, beloved husband, brother, and friend, passed away on October 30, 2025, from complications related to a lifelong struggle with diabetes.
Born on September 14, 1957, to Robert Coulam Jackson and Shirlee Robison Jackson, both of whom preceded him in death, Robert grew up in the Avenues of
Salt Lake City, Utah. From an early age, he developed a love for the breathtaking views of the Salt Lake Valley and for spending time outdoors-a passion that remained with him throughout his life.
Robert was an avid lover of nature and found great joy in spending time at the family cabin in Brighton, Utah. He cherished the peace and beauty of the mountains, where he created countless memories with family and friends. His adventurous and determined spirit led him to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, a distinction that reflected his character and appreciation for the natural world.
Robert married the love of his life, Suzanne Eyre Jackson, with whom he shared many wonderful adventures. They honeymooned in Key West, Florida, a place that held a special place in his heart. He also had a deep fondness for Arizona, where he enjoyed the warmth and desert landscapes. Suzanne is missing and presumed deceased, and their love story remains one of enduring devotion and tenderness.
Robert had a lifelong passion for photography. He loved capturing the world through his lens and even maintained his own darkroom, where he would develop his photographs by hand. Early in his career, he worked for Certified Reprographic, developing film of topographic images for national parks-a job that perfectly combined his technical skill and appreciation for the beauty of the outdoors.
A passionate collector of Western art, Robert took great joy in curating and displaying pieces that reflected the rugged beauty and rich heritage of the American West. He also loved food-especially seafood-and took delight in discovering new flavors and restaurants, earning the affectionate title of a true foodie among his friends and family. Robert had a deep and abiding love for animals. Throughout his life, he was a devoted dog lover, sharing his home with many lucky dogs who were cherished members of his family. He also cared for cats and valued the companionship and comfort his pets brought him. His kindness and gentle nature were evident in the way he treated every living creature.
He is survived by his loving siblings: Joanne (Stanford) Poulsen, Steve Jackson, Marilyn (Davey) Owens, Richard (Joelle) Jackson, and Michelle (Steve) Hansen.
Robert's life was marked by curiosity, creativity, and an abiding love for family, nature, art, and animals. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service to celebrate Robert's life will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple,
Salt Lake City, Utah 84111. All who knew him are welcome to attend.
