Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, Inc. - Trenton ChapelRobert “Bob” Joaquin, of Grosse Ile, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication to the things he held dear: his wife of 58 years, his three children and their spouses, his grandchildren, and the business he continued to run until the end of his life.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1943, he was a longtime resident of Grosse Ile, where his lifelong friends and community became an extension of his family. He was always proud to be from Detroit, a city known for its manufacturing. In 1970, he and his father started Industrial Fabricating, a steel fabricating business. Over the next five decades, he would continue to grow the business. One of his greatest joys in life was working alongside his son, Michael, who will carry the company forward. Bob surprised everyone by continuing to work through his monthly treatments, something we believe helped him in his battle with cancer.
Bob loved being on the water in a sailboat, hunting in the woods, traveling the world with his wife, and spending summers in Michigan by the pool, surrounded by his grandchildren. He was always happiest when there was “life” in his house — full of family, food, drinks, and late-night dance parties.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Jeananne; daughters Jennifer (Lee) and Molly (Chris); son Michael (Nadia); and grandchildren Jillian, Chloe, Katrina, Anna, Corinne, Alena, Josie, and his favorite little man, Eli. He kept us all laughing until he took his last breath. Our Pap, Papio, will be greatly missed.
A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff at the University of Michigan Hospital, who supported Bob in the fight of his life. We are forever grateful for their care and compassion.
Service to honor Bob will be held at St. James Episcopal Church on Grosse Ile, on November 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
