Robert Thomas Johnson

Robert Thomas Johnson, age 87, of Lebanon, TN, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at TriStar Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, TN. He was born on June 29, 1937, in Benton County, TN, to the late James Elvin Johnson and the late Robbie Belle Wiseman Johnson. He began his career at Big Sandy High School as a basketball coach and went on to work as a principal for 35 years. Mr. Johnson retired after his years with the Lebanon Special School District. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lebanon. He enjoyed coaching football and basketball and being principal at Sam Houston and Coles Ferry Elementary. Every morning, he could be found at Hardee's for a sausage and biscuit or at the farmers market getting turnip greens. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He will be greatly missed. 

His favorite Bible verse was Ecclesiastes 9:10, “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.”

Daughters: Jan (Jeremy) Wright of Mt. Juliet, TN and Jo (Joel) Thacker of Lebanon, TN

Sister: Nancy Shelton of Knoxville, TN

Grandchildren: Cole Wright, Conner Wright, and Bretton Belle Thacker

Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 AM at Oakdale Funeral Home in Camden, TN.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 11:30 AM at Eastview Cemetery in Camden, TN with Rev. Steve Carpenter and Rev. Jack Thacker officiating.
