Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel - SpartanburgRobert Glenn “Bob” Johnston, Jr., 90, of Spartanburg, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Eden Terrace. Bob was born September 20, 1935, in Wilmington, NC, son of the late Margaret Kelly Johnston and Robert Glenn Johnston, Sr. He was married to the late Daisy Nobles Johnston, the love of his life.
Bob was a proud US Navy veteran. He received his Associates Degree from Wilmington College and also completed coursework at North Carolina State University and Harvard University. Bob was the longtime President of Spartanburg Coca-Cola Bottling Company, until his retirement in 2000.
Bob, affectionately known by family as “S.O.B.” (Sweet Old Bob) and “Zen Bob” enjoyed hunting, fishing, listening to music, and was an avid craftsman. He is remembered by his family for his generosity of spirit and wisdom. Fondest memories are beach trips, working on cars and projects, and enjoying a hot coffee or a cold beverage in the Bob Shop.
Surviving is his son, Robert Glenn “Rob” Johnston, III and his wife, Loni Braun Johnston of Spartanburg; and his three granddaughters, Lindsay Rebecca Johnston, Raegan Alexander Johnston and Connolly Elizabeth Johnston.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:45 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A private family committal service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, conducted by the Rev. Robert L. Brown.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, PO Box 2624, Spartanburg, SC 29304
