Robert Allan Jones

Robert Allan Jones, 87, of Merrimack, New Hampshire, passed away following a fall at his home.

A highly accomplished Optical Physicist, Robert dedicated his professional life to the field of optics. He earned a Bachelor's degree from Union College and a Master's degree from the University of Southern California (USC). He spent the majority of his distinguished career at Perkin Elmer in Connecticut and Itek in Massachusetts, where his pioneering work in mirror polishing earned him numerous recognitions and accolades.

Robert’s life was marked by love and a passion for travel. He married Janice H. Manning in 1960 in Endwell, New York. Together, they created a loving home for their two children and shared a deep love for family and travel until Janice’s passing in 2007. In 2010, Robert married Irene S. Rockwood in Nottingham, New Hampshire. Together, they shared a passion for travel, enjoying many adventures across the globe.

Robert was predeceased by his first wife, Janice, and his sister, Barbara Klien.

Robert is survived by his wife, Irene S. (Rockwood) Jones; his children, Robert Jones and his wife Theresa, and Karen Nemeth and her husband Martin. He also leaves behind his siblings, Richard Jones and Deborah Wissley. He was a cherished grandfather to Christina Leecock and her husband Ryan, Jennifer Jones, Allison Nemeth, Benjamin Nemeth, and Jack Nemeth, and a loving great-grandfather to Colin Leecock and Owen Leecock.
