Robert Jones Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Patrick T Lanigan Funeral Home - East Pittsburgh on Mar. 18, 2026.
of Greensburg, age 71, passed away on March 16, 2026.

Born and raised in Braddock, Pennsylvania, Bob was known for his sharp mind, quiet strength, and deep appreciation for life's simple joys. He spent his early years rooted in Braddock, a graduate of St. Thomas High School class of 1972. Later he lived in various places, including New Mexico and Tennessee with his sister, Marianne. During that time, he developed a love for hiking and the outdoors.

In more recent years, Bob returned to Greensburg, where he worked at Smokey Bones. Earlier in his career, he was employed at Motor Coils in Braddock.

Bob had a lifelong love of Pittsburgh sports and could often be found reading or working on crossword puzzles-pastimes that reflected his intelligence and thoughtful nature. He was incredibly smart and curious, always enjoying a good challenge or quiet moment with a book. Those who knew him will remember his familiar and playful response, "at ease!!!," a phrase that captured his personality and the way he connected with others.

He especially cherished time spent with his family, including his great nieces, Arianna and Alana, who brought him a great deal of joy. In his younger years, Bob served as an altar boy, a role that reflected the values that stayed with him throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H.and Diana Jones, and is survived by his siblings, Marianne Sabo, Rosemary Ribich, Timmy Jones, and Thomas Jones; and his nieces, Stacey Giardina (daughter of Rosemary) and Mia Jones (daughter of Thomas).

Bob will be remembered for his intellect, his love of family, and the quiet, steady presence he brought to those around him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered-especially in the moments when a simple "at ease!!!" brings a smile to those who knew and loved him.

Arrangements are private through the Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Ave. at Cable, East Pittsburgh, PA 15112, (412) 824-8800.
