Bobby - Fairfield '85 here. We knew each other to say hello, ran in different circles, yet we always would talk whenever we would bump into each other on campus. Had not been back to Fairfield since graduation to attend a basketball game at the new arena. Almost 40 years. At the Alumni Reception prior to the game, met some rugby guys from '84 and your name, of course, came up, along with the mandatory Duggan reference. They had me laughing! I know you would have been there and I am glad you were there in spirit, laughing along with us!

I had the honor of supporting Rob and his team at my former job and I can honestly say that, in all my years there, I never met a sweeter, kinder, more hardworking person. Rob always managed to put a smile on his face, even on the hard days. He always treated others with respect and was so highly respected by others. He made me feel valued and appreciated and I was grateful to have worked so closely with him. He was a very special person and will be missed by so many.

I received an email that the guest book will soon be taken down. It was a reminder of the loss of our dear friend. As we all witnessed at his service, he an Mo have done a tremendous job raising two beautiful kids. Rick, it's a tough spot you were in, but you were able to hit the right tone mixing laughter and tears. Mo, you will remain in our prayers as you continue to mourn. Please stay in touch. Reach out to me or any of your friends who know you and Bobby from Trinity. We will be there for you. God bless you all. [email protected]

It's hard to put into words how we felt about Bobby, as he was truly a one of a kind kind of person, who exuded such much fun every time you were with him and a wonderful joy for others. We feel so lucky to have called him our friend for as long as we did. It's still tough to imagine that Bobby isn't physically here with us anymore. But we are certain that he's with us all in spirit pouring out his love and understanding for the rest of our time..... Love you forever Bobby!

Kapper was a special person to Melanie and me. We enjoyed every time we were with him, Mo, Nicole and Miles, especially the time in the Hamptons. Kaps and I were on many fun and funny sales calls together when we were both at Looking Glass Networks. These are stories we tell to this day and they warm our hearts and every one includes a memory of Robert's infectious smile. The world is dimmer. Our deepest, heartfelt condolences.

Bobby was such a special person and I am so sad that he is gone from our lives. I will always be grateful that he was my friend for so many years. From the day that we first met in high school he always called me Jeffrey and continued to call me by my full name in the years thereafter. I believe it was his way of making me feel special as that was just the Bobby Kaps way. His ability to make everyone feel as though they were the most important person is what made him so well liked and was his best characteristic. I will never forget all of the happy memories that we shared throughout the years. As saddened as I have been by Bobby's passing, I also realize that I was one of the lucky people to have had both the privilege and the honor to call Bobby Kaps a lifelong friend. I will cherish that forever. Rest in peace my dear friend.

Maureen - it has been a long time since I spent time with Bobby but the great memories of him are indelible. No matter what group of friends Bobby was with -- brother in laws' friends, college buddies or otherwise -- Bobby was the first person people gravitated toward - a testament to the great person he was. Always smiling, and concerned about how others were doing before himself. Truly a people person at heart. Bobby has created a fine legacy for you and your family. A life tremendously well lived. He will be missed.

That infectious smile. That's what I will always remember about you, Kapper. You made others smile just by showing up. Just got home from your memorial service, and the outpouring of love was truly amazing. What a guy. Truly. You will be missed, my friend. My heartfelt condolences to your entire family. The light has gone out because the sun has come up....

Precious Bobby, you deserve the credit -- or the blame, for at least a few of the gray hairs on my head, and a good many of the laugh lines around my eyes. You were a delight to know and love, and you will dwell in my heart always.

Hobe, you always enjoyed a good nickname. And with all those names you handed out you made each one of us feel special and decisively connected to you. Every opportunity spent with you with your masterful one liners and precisely timed quotes was always a memorable experience. This is why we have so many "Bobby" stories as all the time spent with you lives on within us all.

Even though you would play the stammering nervous guy for a laugh you were a rock under pressure. If a situation were to suddenly turn ugly you'd make a quick assessment, a definitive decision, and we'd be laughing a half hour later.

The time we've spent together defines my childhood and young adult life. I will cherish your memory always and miss you every day. I love you my brother...

Our sincerest condolences to Bobby's family. We all remember him as the guy whose personality would light up the room. Always positive, funny, and the guy you wanted to be with. Bobby was a part of our many shenanigans at KHS. Joe and Darryl still remember the night they walked from their house through Silas Condict Park to a point on Cherry Tree Lane where Bobby was to meet them. Up rolls Bobby in the family car "disguised" with a woman's scarf around his head as a kerchief. He was about 15 years old! Simply put, when you were with Bobby you always had fun and all was right with the world.

September 9, 2016

Good bye dearest Bobby. May you rest in peace and perpetual light shine upon you. We loved having you as a part of our family and continue to pray for Maureen and your children. With much love Uncle Bill, Julia and Bob, Liz and Rich, Bill and all our children.

I had the privilege of coaching his son Miles for a year. As a coach you get to meet a lot of parents there has never been one quite like Bobby. He was energetic, passionate, kind, and an all-around great guy. What made Bobby unique was that you realize how great he was within the first few minutes of meeting him. He was a person people enjoyed being around. He will forever be missed. God bless the Kaps they will be in my prayers.

Kaps- You were certainly one of a kind. A tremendous boss who gave me the opportunity to be the City Sales Director at TW Telecom and we worked side by side under your leadership to build a great sales team in NYC. I will forever remember our pep talks, our loud claps and me updating you on all things sports especially the NY Giants. We lost a great one and Kapper you will be missed. Thoughts and prayers to Mo, Nicole and Miles who I met a few times while at TW Telecom.

I remember Bobby vividly as the funny kid, the happy kid, the friendly kid in class in Kinnelon. We were all close, we all knew each other. Although I have not seen him since high school, I can tell from his obituary that he stayed the same outgoing and positive person throughout his life, a friend and inspiration to all of us who were fortunate enough to know him. And he always had great hair - oh Bobby and his shiny hair! Wishing his family all the best.

Mo, Nicole, Miles, I am sorry for your loss. As your beautiful obituary said, I had met Bobby only once, but my immediate and lasting impression was how genuinely friendly and energized he was. He left this life surrounded by the love of his beautiful family. And that is very, very good. He and his love will stay with you and be part of you for ever.

To my former coworker, roommate and friend....you were incredibly good at bringing humor, hope, positivity and energy to each and every conversation and situation. You made everyone you came in contact with better for having brushed shoulders with you.

One of the best and brightest from the Kinnelon High Class of '81! A one-of-a-kind class act thru and thru. I will always remember fondly his great big smile, his bigger than life personality and his unique ability to connect with everyone he met. He will be forever missed, but never, ever forgotten. I'm glad I had the privilege of spending some time with such a special person. God bless the Kaps' family - our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

The "Looking Glass Family" has been following Robert's journey since his health situation became known. While not there physically to offer support to him or the family, he was always in our thoughts and prayers. I remember the day he walked into my office to interview to lead our Northeast Sales...Tan, smiling, laughing with great hair...and what a great job he did for us, and the many great friendships he built along the way. My heartfelt condolences.

You know someone is special, when you work indirectly with them at the same company, but they leave a lasting impression. I was lucky enough to meet and get to know Robert while we were at Looking Glass Networks, but the few times we would bump into each other over the past decade, it was like running into one of my best friends. He had this effect on everyone. My condolences to the Kaps family on your loss. What a great guy. He will be missed

We pray that Bobby's soul rest in peace and that his family finds strength to get through this difficult time. Bobby, endearingly know as "Kaps" to many, will be missed. He was gentle, caring, loving and just a genuinely good human being.
