Robert Kendra Obituary

Robert 'Bob' Kendra, age 91, of Greensburg passed away Dec. 7, 2024. Born 1933, in Latrobe, the son of the late Theodore & Josephine Kendra, Bob attended St. Vincent College and served in the Army. As a decades long employee and retiree of Kennametal, Bob was always a proud representative of his hometown Latrobe, Pennsylvania. As an academic collector of antiques & fine arts, Bob was a generous supporter of local nonprofits & arts institutions including the Latrobe Art Center, St. Vincent College, The Westmoreland Museum of American Art (Kendra Gallery) & The Westmoreland County Historical Society (Kendra Gallery). Among the boards and committees on which Bob served are the Westmoreland Historical Society, West Overton Museums & the Latrobe Art Center. Beginning in the 1970's, He established the Antiques & Collectibles Market at Historic Hannahstown, which continues to this day. Bob had a lifelong passion for woodworking and was an enthusiastic historian of antique tools. He was a member of the Early American Industry Association, Midwest Tool Collectors Association & Past President of the Three Rivers Tool Collectors Association. Bob also lectured on numerous subjects including World War One, & Early American Tools & Farm Implements. He was awarded the Arthur St. Clair Award for this stewardship. Bob's Philanthropic footprint will live for decades to come. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends and will always be remembered by his generosity, quick wit and his love of running. In addition to his parents his was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Kiser. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years Arlene Kendra and two nieces Victoria Brooks and her husband Wilson of Tennessee and Paula Howard and her husband James of Rhode Island. The Family would like to thank all Westmoreland Hospital staff for their care, kindness and compassion. His family and friends will be received from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18 followed by Bob's funeral service in the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg, PA 15601. Bob and I crossed paths many times as Bob capably managed a number of different responsibilities from HR to warehouse manager. I was always in facilities. You never knew where Bob would be sent next. Did all things well.

Arlene, Sorry for your loss. I have great memories of Bob he was always doing innovative things and keeping us young ones entertained. I fondly remember the garden parties and mock weddings you two were wild and crazy and I loved every minute.
