Robert "Bob" Wesley Kendrick, 78, of Dresden, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, surrounded by the loving embrace of his wife and family.
Bob was born on December 11, 1946, in
Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Howard and Jane Kendrick. From a young age, he learned the value of hard work and dedication, spending his childhood alongside his father at Kendrick and Son Service Station and later owning Phillips 66. These early years shaped Bob's character, a strong, humble, and deeply committed son, brother, husband, father, and Papaw. Bob was a member of Saint Thomas Aquinas Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He was a proud Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic at Muskingum Mines and later retired from the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA), where he dedicated 20+ years as an International Representative. Bob was a proud union member, and he cherished the brotherhood and solidarity of his fellow union members. He took pride in standing shoulder to shoulder with those who shared his commitment to hard work, fairness, and the dignity of labor.
Bob married his lifelong sweetheart, "Maggie" (Young) Kendrick, on October 23, 1965, and together they have spent the last 60 years building a life full of laughter and love. Through every joy and challenge, they stood side by side, finding strength in one another and in the family they created. Their love was the heart of their home and will continue to inspire all who knew them.
As a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Bob's heart was fullest when surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His love, guidance, and humor will live on in their hearts and in the many memories they shared together. He was deeply loved and will be forever remembered as a proud and devoted Papaw.
Bob is survived by his dear wife, Maggie; their children, Laurie Kendrick, Michelle (Benji) Curtis, Rob (Caren) Kendrick, Ann (Brent) Iden, Adam (Maleah) Kendrick, and David (Gita) Kendrick; their grandchildren Emileigh (Tyler), Josh, Shawn (Ivie), Alex, Evan (Emily), Owen (Landry), Blake, Ryan, Chase (Chais), Anna (Matthew), Austin (Chloe), Taylor, Rylan, and Jaxon; their great-grandchildren Quinnci, Lucas, Cecilia, and Porter; his siblings Sue (Larry) Kohler, Sally Tague, Bill (Cindy) Kendrick, Lynda Sharrer, and Tom (Joellen) Kendrick.
