Obituary of Robert "Bob" Kenny
Robert "Bob" Kenny, 80, formerly of Pearl River, NY and Boca Raton, FL passed away on August 2, 2023. He was born on March 30, 1943, in Bayside, NY, to Margaret and Thomas Kenny. Bob married Catherine P. Keaney on August 5, 1967, and raised their children in Pearl River, NY, until her passing in 2000.
Bob was a devoted father to his two children, Erin Clayton of Dover, NH and Sean Kenny of Coral Springs, FL. They brought immense joy to his life. Bob was a beloved grandfather to three grandchildren: Brendan Kenny, Mairead Clayton and Liam Kenny. "Pop-pop" as the kids referred to him, loved them and enjoyed imparting his knowledge on them.
After the passing of his wife of 33 years, Bob met and married Lisa Ogman in 2004. They shared almost 10 years of marriage and love, as well as additional years of companionship and adventures.
Bob had a kind heart, a quick laugh, and was a man of many passions and interests. Throughout his life, sports were always a great love of his-from being a diehard NY Yankees and New York Football Giant's fan to pursuing coaching and umpiring youth sports when his kids were young. He was also involved with St. Aedan's as CCD teacher and Lector. For many years, he was active in Cursillo, leaving a mark on many he interacted with and knew him. Bob even learned he had a love and talent for cooking after Kathy's death.
Following his career in Insurance Sales, Bob believed in the principals of the Masons and contributed his time and resources to make a positive difference in this fraternal organization. He served faithfully for a number of years, beyond his time as Worshipful Master, prior to taking up residence at the Masonic Home of Florida is St. Petersburg, FL.
A Funeral Mass to celebrate Bob's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 19, 2023, at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, in Parkland, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Masonic Home of Florida () which Bob and his family are thankful for their care and support over the past 18 months.
In addition to his wife Kathy, he was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Thomas Kenny, as well as siblings Thomas III (Helen) and Patrick Kenny. He is survived by his children, Erin Clayton, and Sean (Melissa) Kenny; his grandchildren, Brendan Molloy Kenny, Mairead "Maisie" Clayton, Liam O'Brien Kenny; his sister Marie (Chris); and a host of Godchildren, nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
