Robert S. Kent Sr.

Cranston - Robert S. Kent Sr., 75, of Mayfield Avenue died Saturday, June 12, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital-Our Lady of Fatima Unit, North Providence. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. (Duffy) Kent. Mr. and Mrs. Kent celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on April 5, 2010. Born in Providence he was a son of the late Courtland P. and Florence (Hewitt) Kent. He worked as a meat cutter and manager for Valueland Supermarkets. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Providence and a former vice president and shop steward for UFCW Local 328. Besides his wife he is survived by his son Robert S. Kent Jr. and his wife Patricia of Warwick; two brothers, George Kent of Exeter and Gerald Kent of Hope; one sister, Janet Nickerson of Kansas; seven grandchildren, Robert S. Kent III, Andrew, Rachel and Ian Kent, Erika Lancaster, Carla and Alexandria Manetta and one great grandson Christopher Kent. He was the brother of the late Marjorie Miller, Charlotte Welch, Richard Kent and Courtland "Bud" Kent. His family is remembering him as someone who was always there for other people and as a jokester. Funeral service Friday, June 18, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 5:00 - 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
