ROBERT "BOB" KEYS Robert "Bob" Keys, age 86, passed away peacefully at his home in AuGres, Michigan on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. Bob was born on August 11, 1937, in Flint, Michigan to Leo and Bernice (Hill) Keys. He lead a happy and full life with his wife Linda and family. He loved hunting with his grandson, Lucas, even when he could hardly walk two feet from where they parked the truck. He enjoyed fishing, reading, and listening to his classical music. Bob served nine years in the US Air Force as a Cryptanalysis Specialist. He loved telling stories about his military time to anyone who would lend an ear. After his service, he went to school graduating from the University of Michigan with his Master in Environmental Science. He then taught as a science teacher for thirty years in the Flint Schools District. Bob married his beautiful wife, Linda. They lived in Flushing, Michigan for 20 years, moving to AuGres 17 years ago after retiring. He was always called Papa by his family. He has two stepdaughters, Denise Thomas and Susan (Mark) Rennie; step-son, Matthew W. Thomas, who preceded him in death; six wonderful grandchildren, Kristina (Alex) Richman, Lea (Brandon) Hickmont, Lucas Easley, Nicole Rennie, Alexis Rennie, Elizabeth (Andrew) Wagster; and seven of the most beautiful great-grandchildren; his dearest cousin, Budge (Chris) Hill; close friend, Phyllis Marks; and sister, Barbara Sanderson. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Leo Keys, and Bernice Brock, and stepfather John Brock; brother, Johnny Brock; and step-son, Matthew W. Thomas. He was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, the Eagles, and a lifetime member of the NRA. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Edmonds Inn in downtown AuGres.
