Robert C. Kristian

From my earliest recollection, I was in some fashion with the Kristian family nearly every day of my life until I went to college. Neil and I were inseparable we went to school together, we played sports together, we worked together in the summers, and mostly we just hung out together. Not once was Mr. Kristian anything but a gentleman, and always welcoming. He and Mrs. Kristian made an incredible team borne out of synergy each with their own gifts. The older I get, the more I appreciate how he kept everything together and moving forward. He would do more in one day than most people do in a week, was always upbeat and positive, and made it look easy. He, like many from his generation including my own dad, was abundantly disciplined and focused. After hearing of his service to his country, which he largely kept to himself, I was not surprised. Whether it was his family, faith or country, he always was part of something bigger than him, putting the truly meaningful things ahead of himself. Mr. Kristian will be missed, and we need more like him. But we should also celebrate a life well-lived, and his legacy, which is present in the great men Chris, Paul and Neil are today.

On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans (USSVI), I offer our sincere condolences on Robert's passing. You and your loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers. We are forever grateful for Robert's service to our country in the U.S. Submarine Service. To our Brother of the Phin we say, Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. Bob Kristian always was upbeat, caring, and a gentleman. You see, I was one of the many who knew Bob through work., which is another unbelievable characteristic of Bob by working at a physical job at age 92. I don't know exactly how long Bob and I have known each other, but it's around 15 years. He loved to play and talk golf. For the past couple of years, Bob attended the same 8:00 Sunday mass at Our Lady of Lourdes in Brockton as my wife and I went to. He sat in the first pew, and was always in a tie and blazer. After mass, Bob hugged and kissed my wife, shook my hand, and always asked us out for breakfast. We talked as we walked to our cars ...I'll miss seeing Bob. He really is a special man.

To the Kristian Family,

On behalf of the Charleston Base SUBVETS and Swamp Fox Chapter SUBVETS WWII, I offer you our sincere condolences on Bob's passing. We grieve with you on the loss of your loved one and our shipmate. The SUBVETS will have your family in our thoughts and prayers. There is no expiration date on the back of our dolphins and Bob, who earned his 'fish' when he qualified on USS SEA OWL SS-405 during World War II, will always be remembered as a Brother of the Phin, a member of our Greatest Generation, and a great Patriot.

My deepest sympathy on the passing of your father, Bob. He was a spark among the women at the Rockland Senior Center. always cheery and joking with us. Bob will be greatly missed in aerobics class for being such a kind hearted ,and gentle man.

Prayers are being said for your family left behind. He is now with Jackie, the love of his life.

To the Kristian family. Your dad called Chris' office on occasion and was always so upbeat and chipper. He would have a joke to tell whenever he called. He was a wonderful man and I am so happy I had the pleasure of meeting him and having a few laughs over the phone. May he rest in peace and my thoughts and prayers are with his family.
