Robert Edward Kromrei
2.13.1951-1.22.2025
Just sixteen minutes in to the new day of January 22, 2025, our adored Husband, Father, Papa, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Cherished Friend and Admired Colleague waved his flag and surrendered. The battle he endured was the most ferocious in his lifetime. He relentlessly pushed through an entire year facing health challenges no human should have to experience.
Bob was a gorgeous, gentle, enviably patient man with a wild underlying spirit. His wit, humor and charm were unmatched. And, as his wife Jennifer, would tell him often, he was "my handsome man".
Born (and raised) in Wyandotte Michigan on February 13, 1951, to parents Ervin and Dorothy, Bob was the second of four children (Pam, Kathy, Brian), and the first of two Kromrei namesake sons.
An athlete during his secondary school years, Bob later attended college at both WCC and EMU. All the while, his primary ambition was to inherit and continue the family business, Ecorse Body and Kromrei Motors. He was raised in this "body shop world" from the age of 10, and learned how to become a master of his craft as an Automotive Painter. Precision and perfection were Bob's standards, for which he was known and admired.
While his vision was not realized as he had planned for, Bob pursued his craft for decades, eventually transitioning to a role as a technical consultant where his customers continued to benefit from his valued book of knowledge. His work ethic was bar none; 55+years in and rarely a day missed.
Bob's circle was small by choice. Those within it were genuinely loved and appreciated, and they knew it. Whether a family connection, friendship, activity, project or hobby, he consistently offered genuine admiration, patience, knowledge, skill and commitment. He knew more than most about the game of golf and his life long passion of motorcycles.
Bob and his wife Jennifer enjoyed each other and their life together for 32 years, a second marriage for them both. They rode the waves, walked the smooth sands and embraced times when life's turbulence showed up. They never let go of each other
Their children from first marriages and their respective spouses; Stephanie(Rafael) Velazquez, Nicholas(Marcie) Kromrei, and Joel Kromrei are deeply loved, as are grandchildren Liam Lemon, Madison and Rafael Velazquez Jr., and Grady, Henry and Beau Kromrei.
Bob rests in eternal tranquility at The Preserve, a green burial ground sited on Maceday Lake within the All Saints Cemetery in Waterford, Michigan. He will be lovingly remembered and celebrated by family and friends at future gatherings.
In his memory, donations can be made to the I-CAR Collision Repair Education Foundation. https://collisionrepaireducationfoundation.org/donate-now/
