Robert "Bob" Lee Kuda, 89, of Troy, MO, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab. He was born on June 18, 1934, in Troy, the son of John Thomas and Mallie V. (Reeds) Kuda. The family moved to St. Louis and then to California, where his father was stationed in the United States Army. After World War II, they moved back to Troy. He attended the local schools, and then graduated from Buchanan High School in 1953. Bob then attended the Washington University School of Architecture in St. Louis. On April 2, 1955, he married the love of his life, Betty Jean (Nagle). To this union were born five children: Kim Kristopher, Kyle Kourtney, Kari Kendall, Kay Kirstin and Kristal Kathleen.
Bob was employed by McDonnell Douglas (Boeing) in the engineering department and Concord Homes of Bridgeton. He then established his architectural design company in Troy. Bob designed and oversaw many local constructions. These included the Troy Presbyterian Manse, Methodist Manse, Whiteside Presbyterian Manse, Lincoln County Highway Complex, The Learning Center, and the Sugar Grove Growers. Including the local homes of: The Schroder's, The Norton's, The Davis's, The Creech's, The Pietzman's, The Schieffer's, Kim Kuda, The Bickel's, The Price's, The Hechler's, The Schaper's, The Watt's, the Taylor's, Schulze's and the Montgomery's. He also oversaw the renovation at the Creech's Department Store and the Meyer Home at Eagle Fork Farms. Bob did the addition to Kemper-Marsh Funeral Home. Also the remodeling of the Lincoln County Courthouse for which he was awarded the Heritage Award, for the outstanding contribution in Lincoln County, MO, in the preservation and restoration of a historical building.
Bob was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church in Troy. He professed his faith in Jesus Christ at a young age and was later baptized joining the church on May 25, 1948. Later he served as the Sunday School Superintendent and director of the Junior Department. He was a past member of the Troy Chamber of Commerce, and the very first Troy City Fairgrounds Park Board. Bob managed and coached many khoury league, baseball and softball teams that his children participated in. He and Gilmer Dehn started a cycling group and many miles were traveled together, along with his son, Kyle. Bob was an avid golfer, and taught his father, sons, and grandchildren how to golf. He was also an artist, and created many watercolor paintings and sketches. Bob did a sketch of the old Paw Paw house in the Cuivre River State Park, a great keepsake of a historic building. He took great pride in his lawn and flower gardens, even receiving Yard Of The Month, twice from the Troy Garden Club. Bob will be remembered lovingly by his family and friends.
