Robert Lare Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Davis-Watkins Funeral Homes & Crematory - Fort Walton Beach on Aug. 4, 2025.
Bob Lare, age 89, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, passed away due to surgical complications on Sunday, August 3, 2025. He was born in Nebraska City, Nebraska on May 8, 1936. Bob was a crop duster and studied under his Grampa Lare as a blacksmith. At the age of 20, Bob joined the United States Air Force. He retired in 1975 and became a Logistician for Civil Service at Wright Patterson AFB then at Eglin AFB. He retired again and became a long distance "Big Rig" driver for Schneider and Poole Truck Lines (honk that horn, Bob!)

Bob is survived by his wife, Georgette of Fort Walton Beach, FL; daughter, Sherry of Fairbury, NE; son, Bob, Jr. (Gay) of Shreveport, LA; stepdaughter, Paula (Corky) of Pensacola, FL; stepson, Mark (Summer) of Fort Walton Beach, FL; grandson, Charlie, with whom he shared a special bond; and grandson, Toryn; beautiful granddaughters, Alyssa, Shannon, Amanda, Haley, Mary, and Rowan; as well as, great grandchildren, Alex, Joseph, MacKinzie, Etheridge, Will and Sterling. We smile knowing, full well, Bob is in heaven spending happy times with his dear friends, Karen and Byron, arguing the price of club soda with Ocy, throwing the ball for "Skipper", and listening to Dixieland music. Bob was a happy guy whose hobbies were having fun and flirting with the Mardi Gras girls and the ladies of Bay Port.

Bob is preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Andrews; father, Wayne Lare; sister, Connie; brother, John; and his beloved grandson, Alex Joubert.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Davis Watkins Funeral Home of Fort Walton Beach beginning at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends starting at 10:00 a.m. There will be a private family interment at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola at 2:00 p.m.

On Sunday, September 28, 2025, there will be a Celebration of Life at "The Place on Beal" in Fort Walton Beach from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. There will be plenty of food and fun, which is just what Bob would want.

So many will miss you, Bob. Until we meet again, save us a seat.
