Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Robert Aaron Lawson will be on Saturday, August 3, 11:00 A.M. at Dixie Hills First Baptist Church, 1995 Moorehouse Drive, Atlanta, GA 30314. Public Viewing will be on Friday, August 2, 2024, between the hours of 1:00 and 6:00 PM at Alfonso Dawson Mortuary.
Obituary
Robert A. Lawson, born on December 19, 1944, in Rochelle, Georgia, was the only child of the late Willie Thomas Lawson and Cora Bell Lawson. At the young age of four, Robert contracted polio, which resulted in the loss of motor function in both his legs. Despite this challenging start, Robert's determination and resilience allowed him to lead a fulfilling life. He graduated from high school and went on to build a successful career with the Internal Revenue Service as a tax analyst. Robert also created a loving family with his wife, Jessie Lawson, and their two children, Tawanna Lawson (Dankyi) and Thomas Lawson.
In 2001, he became a member of Dixie Hills First Baptist Church under the guidance of the late Russell Sutton. Robert is survived by his beloved wife Jessie, his children, Tawanna (and her husband Erique) and Thomas, as well as his six grandchildren: Stephen Utsey, Makalya Lawson, Briana Lawson, Perseus Lawson, Harmony Hugley, and Kingston Hugley. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish his memory.
