Robert Lee Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carnes Funeral Home - Texas City on Jan. 5, 2026.
Robert Edwin Lee III passed away on January 3, 2026, at the age of 74 at Kindred Hospital in Webster, Texas.

He was the devoted husband of Janie Lee for 34 years. Born on May 3, 1951, in San Diego, California, Robert was the son of Barbara Sears Lee and Robert E. Lee II. He grew up in Clovis, New Mexico.

Robert first attended Barber College and worked alongside his father in that profession for several years. Later, he pursued nursing, graduating from Amarillo College as a registered nurse after transferring from Odessa College. He worked at Mainland Hospital for more than a decade, where he was admired by patients, colleagues, and staff alike.

A dedicated member of the Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Hitchcock, Texas, Robert served faithfully as both a Pioneer and Elder for many years. He also served on the hospital visitation committee, offering comfort and support to those in need.

Known affectionately as "Bob," he loved the outdoors, gardening, and animals-especially ducks. Janie fondly nicknamed him "The Duck Whisperer." Robert's cheerful spirit shone through in his favorite saying, "Just another day in paradise," a phrase that captured his optimism and joy for life.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother Barbara, grandmother Vallie Sears, father Robert E. Lee II, brother John Lee, and sisters Pat Lee, Lori Lee, and Beverly Nance.

He is survived by his wife Janie Lee; sons Robert E. Lee IV and William Nathan Lee; brother Mike Lee and wife Carol; as well as many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
