Robert married the love of his life, Lauretta Matthews, whom he lived with in Harker Heights and managed to put up with for 34 plus years, although he would not have done it any other way. Surviving children include Marthanell Lewis from California, Judith Lewis in Harker Heights, Texas, Travis Matthews in Herington, Kansas, and Tiffany Kruse of Killeen, Texas. Robert's, aka grandpa's, most important people were his grandchildren, ranging from age 4 to 25 whom he often enjoyed calling. Watching them in band, volleyball, soccer, color guard, FFA, Football, JROTC, in advancing into the Marines, and many more activities was a pleasurable experience for him in which he enjoyed every single one. Tyler and Amy Matthews of Rose Hill, Kansas, gave Robert his first great-grandson, Bradley. He was informed prior to his death that he was going to be a great-grandpa again and was met with excitement. Robert left behind his older sister, Wanda Clark (Kenneth) of Jarrell, Texas. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was looking forward to seeing all of his fur babies in heaven, except for the one he unfortunately had to leave behind, Buddy. He especially loved Buddy, even with the abundance of dogs he had. Buddy followed him around everywhere and was his little boy until the very end, when he was there to ensure he wasn't alone until his last breath. Celebration of life will be held at Care Center, 815 N. 8th Street, Suite 500, on Thursday, October 2nd at 1 pm. His family will be wearing red in remembrance of his favorite color. Robert Q. Lewis will be cremated to rest with his daughter and son at a later date.
