Robert C. Lewis, 82, of Bensalem, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, surrounded by his family. Robert was born in
Philadelphia, PA, to Joseph and Josephine Lewis. He proudly served in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany.
Following his military service, Robert began working at Rohm and Haas in Philadelphia, following in his father's footsteps. He dedicated 37 years to the company, working his way up to Night Supervisor before retiring in 2001.
In 1965, Robert met Georgia as she walked down Torresdale Avenue-it was love at first sight. Together, Robert and Georgia raised three daughters: Barbara, Joanne, and Candy. After retirement, the couple spent much of their time traveling the country in their RV.
Robert had a gift for fixing just about anything-from plumbing to building decks-and was equally handy with vehicles. He was always willing to lend a helping hand within his community. He also took great pride in staying in shape and could often be found lifting weights.
Known for his pranks and sharp sense of humor, Robert believed that if he was roasting you, it meant he liked you. Road trips with Robert were always memorable and often hilariously disastrous-whether it was accidentally breaking a sink at a fancy resort, falling into a pool with his wallet in his pocket, or shaving off an eyebrow. He was also busy teaching his grandsons how to follow in his footsteps.
Robert lit up every room he entered, with all eyes on him waiting to see what funny thing he would do next. A master of one-liners, he laughed heartily-often at his own jokes-and sometimes his laughter was funnier than the joke itself. Even until his passing, Robert never lost his sense of humor.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Josephine Lewis; his daughters, Joanne St. Clair (Lewis) and Barbara Schwerdtmann (Lewis); his grandson, Emil Schwerdtmann; his brothers, Edward, Charles, and Joseph Lewis; and his sisters, Eileen Cioffi and Marie Frank. He was also predeceased by his faithful companion Rottweiler, along with many other beloved dogs he owned throughout the years.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Georgia; his daughter, Candy (Dygert-Lewis); his grandsons, Ken St. Clair, Nicholas Dygert, Jimmy Dygert, and Brandon Colvin; his sister, Rita Bayer; and many nieces and nephews. Robert loved his family fiercely and was an amazing husband, father, and "Pop."
Robert will be deeply missed by all, and his laugh will never be forgotten. Family gatherings will be a little quieter and never quite the same without him and his mishaps.
Per Robert's request, services will be held for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the
American Heart Association.
