Robert B. “Lindy” Lindberg, 97, a lifelong resident of Sharon, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. He was the husband of the late Margaret M. (McGarvey) Lindberg. Son of the late Arthur and Doris (Bachman) Lindberg, he was born in Sharon and educated in Sharon schools. Lindy was a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps and a Veteran of World War II. He was a postal worker for the U.S. Postal Service in Sharon for 52 years before retiring several years ago. He also was an Auxiliary Firefighter for the Town of Sharon and worked at Maxie’s Delicatessen in Stoughton for over 20 years, opening the deli there. He was a handyman who enjoyed helping people and enjoyed his work at the Fire Department and Post Office.
Lindy was the father of Nancy A. Lindberg of North Falmouth, Mary Lou Mihoven and her husband George of Nahant, James R. Lindberg of Mansfield and the late Thomas P. Lindberg and Edward F. Lindberg as well as his grandchildren, Erik Mihovan, Diana Cronin, Matthew Lindberg, and Jennifer Lindberg and his great-grandchildren, Brooke, Mackenzie and Abigail Cronin and Tess and Luke Lindberg. He was the brother of Arthur “Bunty” Lindberg of Chester, MA, Richard Lindberg of Mansfield and was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, and John Lindberg. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home. 358 Park Street (Rt.27), Stoughton, on Tuesday, August 29th from 9-11AM, followed by a Graveside Service at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s memory may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, 60 Walnut St, Wellesley Hills, Ma 02481.
