Robert Gregory "Bob" Lobato, Sr., age 80, passed away on December 17, 2025, in Grants Pass, Oregon. Born on September 8, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Bob lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to his family, craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.

Bob's professional journey was as diverse as it was accomplished. He began his career as a Union Stationary Operating Engineer in Las Vegas, Nevada and San Francisco, California. Later, he became a Journeyman Carpenter in Coos Bay and Springfield, Oregon-skills that would remain central to his life. He earned an Associate's degree from Southwestern Oregon Community College (SWOCC) in Coos Bay, further enriching his knowledge and expertise. His final professional role was as Facilities Maintenance Director for the Pleasant Hill School District in Oregon. In between formal employment roles, Bob applied his lifelong carpentry skills to remodel, build, and sell homes-endeavors that brought him great pride and satisfaction.

Bob's passions extended far beyond his work. A lifelong horseman, he supported his wife's love of horses through showing, breeding, and raising them-a shared devotion that enriched their lives together. He enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout Oregon's scenic landscapes and spent many joyful hours bowling on various leagues. His love for classic cars often found him cruising the roads with pride. He cherished time spent reminiscing with his older brothers Karl and Ray-sharing stories filled with humor and warmth-and treasured every moment with family and friends.

Dancing brought Bob immense joy throughout the years. He found community and laughter with The Charlie Brown Squares and Rikki's Rounds through square and round dancing-activities that rekindled his youthful spirit. Raised Catholic as a young boy in Utah, Bob maintained a belief in a higher power throughout his life.

Family was at the heart of Bob's world. He is lovingly remembered by Jeanne, his wife of 50 years; Son Robert Jr.; daughters Kelly, Christine, Richelle, sons Rick and Greg (Rianon); nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Bob is also survived by his sister Sandra Mousaw; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved deeply. He also shared an especially close bond with Bill Brewer.

He was preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Marilyn; stepfather Delbert Jones; brothers Ray (Diane) and Karl Lobato; nephew Dennis; and great-niece Erin.

May Robert Gregory "Bob" Lobato Sr.'s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire all who were touched by his generous spirit and enduring love for life. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 5, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Stephens Family Chapel 1629 Williams Highway Grants Pass. A graveside service will immediately follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens 2500 Upper River Road Grants Pass.
