Robert Logie Obituary

Robert Scott Logie
1963 - 2024
Robert (Scott) Logie passed away peacefully on July 28, 2024, in Toronto, surrounded by his loving family. Scott was born and raised in North Toronto, where he attended Upper Canada College for seven years before graduating in 1981. Scott's time at UCC was marked by his lifelong friendships and standout performance on the ice hockey team, as well as his capture of the Logie Medal for Athlete of the Year (which he assured his children had nothing to do with his last name).
Scott made the decision to move to the US to attend Yale University, where he played on the Men's Ice Hockey team. It was here that Scott pursued his interest in economics, became a part of his cherished friend group, The Tribe, and met his wife, Liz. After graduating in 1985, Scott and Liz moved to New York City, where he began his career on Wall Street and they started their family.
As a father of three, Scott spent his weekends cheering on all three children in their various extracurriculars. He coached youth ice hockey teams and tied hundreds of skates; he went to Father's Day brunches at school and honed his skills as a grill master; he drove to every lacrosse field in the Tri-state area and spent hours at horseshows waiting to watch one round of jumps.
Scott and Liz ensured that their children had access to the best education possible through their years at NCCS, Deerfield and their various world travels. Scott was incredibly proud of his children's accomplishments both on the field and in the classroom.
An avid sportsman his entire life, Scott stayed active through the New Canaan Winter Club men's hockey league and his love of cycling. He participated for multiple years in the Pan-Mass Challenge on Team Velominati, raising money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Scott was known affectionately as "Tip Of The Spear", and spent many hours on the roads of Connecticut with his "riding buddies", which brought him great joy.
Scott was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the summer of 2023, and spent over a year battling the disease with tremendous courage, optimism and grace. His fight was a true testament to the toughness that had always defined his athletic endeavors, and one of his favorite mantras, "the legs feed the wolf!". His family's endless thanks and appreciation go out to both the teams at Norwalk Hospital and Toronto General Hospital for their incredible kindness and care of Scott.
Scott is survived by his beloved children, sons, Jackson and Emerson of New York, NY, and daughter, Ryan, of San Francisco, CA. He is also survived by his father, Robin Logie (Jane), sister, Ann-Louise Logie (Cliff), and brother, Sandy Logie (Tania), all of Toronto. He was pre-deceased by his mother, Mary Elizabeth. Scott will be remembered by all those whose lives he touched with his sense of adventure and passion, his large stature and gentleness, as well as the love and fun he brought to everything he did.
A Celebration of Life will take place in Toronto in September, and arrangements for local Celebration of Life are being made for a later date. Donations in Scott's memory can be made to either the Pan-Mass Challenge supporting Team Velominati (Pan-Mass Challenge, Scott Logie, 77 4th Avenue, Needham, MA 02494) or to Project Purple (Project Purple, PO Box 884 Seymour, CT 06483).

I´m so very sad to hear of Scott´s passing. He and I knew eachother professionally at first and then last summer, he let a handful of us know of his diagnosis and so Scott and I started to meet as frequently as we could for breakfasts, lunches and the occasional concert over the course of the year. He was always stoic, upbeat; could recite the score of any college or professional sport going on at any time anywhere. He really enjoyed his travels to Florida, the Bahamas, Idaho, Pennsylvania and wherever to and fro! Scott was a kind, generous and loving man and he will be sorely missed. God bless you and your family now and forever Scott! I will miss you and will always look fondly on our time together. Until we meet again my friend! Rest in peace! Love, Clay

Scott was a great guy. I am proud that he is my cousin and my years at UCC were better because of him

I had the pleasure to work with Scotty on the Salomon corporate bond trading desk in the late 80s. Scotty loved being a Solly trader and his swagger in the markets was legendary. In my 35+ years on the Street I never encountered a trader who analyzed relative value, controlled markets or was more respected by coworkers and competitors alike as my friend Scotty. He did all this and always had time for Lugers and his family. I can´t even imagine the trouble he is getting into with Lads right now.
