Robert Lee Long, 75, died July 28, 2025, with his children at his side.

Born on June 27, 1950, Rob was a lifelong resident of Akron, Ohio. He graduated from Firestone High School in 1968, and studied at the University of Akron. Rob was President of Akron Tile & Fireplace, founded in 1906. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gail Billow Long; parents, Robert Leo and Jeanne Frank Long, parents-in-law Charles W. and Retta Billow; and brother, J. David Long. Robert is survived by his son, John F. Long (Kimberly) and their daughter, Cora Lee; daughter, Katherine Long Herold (James); sisters, Leslie Long Gatie and Patricia Long Sucher, siblings-in-law, Charles M. Billow (Patricia), Ann Billow Grebelsky (Mark), Laura Billow Preston (Chip); and many nieces and nephews.

“Robbie” as he was called by those close to him, loved Cleveland Sports. He was always watching the home teams or a golf match. When he was younger, he loved boating. Robbie and Gail’s first date was a boat ride on the Portage Lakes. He loved driving his Miata in the valley, listening to the radio, and collecting them.

A Memorial Service will be held 1 P.M. SATURDAY August 9th at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev. Mark J. Pruitt officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Private inurnment to follow at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Haven of Rest Ministries, or the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
