Robert Lopez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Castillo Funeral Home on Dec. 27, 2025.
Robert Lopez, lovingly known as "Bambino," passed away on December 15, 2025, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family, at the age of 74. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, on November 9, 1951.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert Pando; his mother, Antonia Pando; his brother, Federico Pando; and his grandma "Gram" Maria Lopez
He is survived by his children, Anthony Ayala, Michael Ayala, Leslie Ayala, Melissa Aranda (Joe Vasquez), and Angelica Lopez-Ordonez (Miguel Ordonez); his beloved sister, Herlinda Mendoza (Ramon Mendoza Sr.); as well as his numerous godchildren, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Robert was a good man with a generous heart. Even when he had very little, he always made sure his sister had what she needed. His quiet kindness, selflessness, and willingness to give spoke louder than words ever could. To those who knew him best, Robert was dependable, steady, and present, someone you could count on.

He was well known as "Model T," a nickname earned from his beloved Model T car, which became a part of his identity and a symbol of the simple joys he cherished. He was also well known as "Monster" another nickname he earned during his times opening for Monster Jam. Robert lived life at his own pace, never rushing, often reminding those around him with one of his favorite sayings: "I got nothing but tiiiiiime, monkey."

Robert's faith was rooted in the belief that life unfolds according to God's perfect timing.
His life reflects the words of Scripture:

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance." - Ecclesiastes 3:1-4

"The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death." - Isaiah 57:1-2

Robert will be deeply missed by his family an all who had the privilege of knowing him.
His legacy lives on through his kids, grandkids and the many lives he touched with his kindness, patience, and love.

My thoughts and prayers are with Robert's family and friends. My memories are fond of him and in life and death he will always be my "uncle" Robert. With love and sympathy. ~Vanessa Perez (formerly Rodriguez, Jesse's daughter)
