Robert A. Lord

Robert A. (Bob) Lord, age 91, of Moravia, NY, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 after a brief illness.
Bob was born October 24, 1932 in Ann Arbor, MI, the son of Robert and Mary (Luscher) Lord. He was a 1952 graduate of Caledonia-Mumford High School and a 1957 Engineering graduate of Alfred State College. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1953-1955.
He married Edna Hoagland on June 16, 1956 in Trenton, NJ. Bob was a devoted husband. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life. He was employed with Ingersoll Rand and Dresser Rand, holding many engineering, marketing and service positions during his 38 years of service, retiring in December 1994. He was a past president of the Ingersoll Rand Tech Club.
Bob was a member of the Caton United Methodist Church and a past leader of the Church's Outreach Committee. Bob and Edna ran the Caton Community Blood drives for several years at the Caton United Methodist Church. He helped for several years with work at the Food Pantry of Angels in Presho United Methodist Church. He was community minded and loved the rural community of Caton, having served nine years on the Caton Planning Board, 25 years as the chairman of the Caton Zoning Board of Appeals, and 12 years as deputy town supervisor on the Caton Town Board. Bob was involved with the Caton Days parade for several years. He was president of the Caton Seniors and was in charge of the Caton Seniors bus trips for many years.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela (Jay) Roller of Valencia, CA; son, Roger (Lynn Withers) Lord of Moravia, NY; granddaughter, Heidi (Corey) Wright of Lockport, NY; grandson, Bryan (Katie Stayton) Lord of LeRoy, NY; great-granddaughter, Lydia of LeRoy, NY; great-grandson, Aidan, of Lockport, NY; and sister, Jane Lord, of LeRoy, NY.
Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, November 16th from 1 - 3 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning, NY. His funeral service will be held on Friday, November 17th at 11:00 AM at Caton United Methodist Church, 11186 Hendy Hollow Road in Corning, NY with Pastor Dick Hurd officiating. Interment will be at the family's convenience.
The family would appreciate memorial donations in Bob's name to be given to Caton United Methodist Church, The Pantry of Angels, or the American Cancer Society.
