Robert David Luther

Robert David "Bob" Luther born on February 17, 1940, in Cadet, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2025, in Bonne Terre, Missouri. He was a dedicated family man and a cherished friend to many.

Bob's early education took place in his hometown, where he grew up off Cannon Mines Road and attended both Fertile and Belle Fountain Schools. His career began as a machinist at Haake Manufacturing in DeSoto, before moving on to the Chrysler Car Plant, where he devoted himself until his retirement. Following his career, Robert found joy in driving the SMTS Bus, helping others and continuing to serve his community.

Bob married Catherine Pickett on September 10, 1960. Their life together lasted for 49 years until her passing on May 15, 2010. He later remarried Mary Deanna Goff, enjoying a loving partnership that spanned 11 years. As a proud husband and father, Bob was known for his affection toward his family and would often express his love, saying, "I love you most." His commitment to family was matched only by his faith; he was a longstanding member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiff and also cherished his time at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Old Mines.

His passions extended beyond his family and faith. He had a deep appreciation for music, forming his own band and showcasing his talent with various instruments, including the banjo, guitar, and mandolin. His evenings were often spent sharing music with locals at the Sayers Senior Center. Additionally, he found joy in woodworking, dedicating many hours in his shop to create beautiful pieces of furniture that will forever be cherished by his loved ones.

He is survived by his daughters: Paula Thurman and Denny Goodson, Phyllis Wills and Gary, and Marilyn Dawson and Rob; his son, Donnie Luther; step-daughters: Brenda Goff-Williams and Cary, and Donna Goff-Cates; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Robert also leaves behind his siblings: Paul Luther and Fay, Daniel Luther, Karen Kincaid and Glen, Barbara Politte, and Erma Jean Roberson. Along with special family members Kelly Hedger and Angie Naumann; and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Ellis and Lillian Mary (Coleman) Luther; his first wife, Catherine "Pooch" Luther; his second wife, Mary Deanna Goff-Luther; his sons: Billy Luther, David Luther, and Jeffery Luther; his brothers, Billy Luther, Dougie Luther, and Junior Luther; his sister, Catherine Juliette; and sister, Mary Politte, along with many dear loved ones.

Visitation services will be held at DeClue Family Funeral Home in Potosi, Missouri on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, continuing on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 9:00 AM until his funeral service, beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Tiff, Missouri. 

Bob will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his commitment to his community, and his generous spirit that touched the lives of all who knew him.
