Robert (Bob) D. MacLeod, Sr, formally of Merrimac, MA. born Feb. 25, 1932 to Albert F. and H. Isabel Macleod in Haverhill, MA, died on July 27, 2023 at Westford House Nursing Home in Westford, MA.
Bob graduated Haverhill High School in 1950 and served in the U. S. Navy in Korea. Mr. MacLeod retired from AT& T as a Communication Technician in 1989. During his 33 years he held various positions in the unions, IBTW and IBEW. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus helping to form Council #5004 in Groveland, MA. and was an active member of the Church of the Nativity, Merrimac. He also was a member of the Merriplayers and Santa Parade Committee. He was a member of the Zoning Board in Merrimac for 11 years. He was an avid bowler, cribbage player and enjoyed many activities at the Merrimac Senior Center. He also helped form the Merrimac Youth Soccer Association.
Mr. MacLeod leaves his wife of almost 70 years, Janet E. (Halligan) MacLeod and seven children; Patricia and Kevin Arakelian, Jefferson, NH; Marie and Gary Alder, N. Fort Myers, FL.; Susan and Gary Ralls, Nashua, NH; Margaret (Peggy) and Patrick Magee, Wilmington, MA.; Linda MacLeod, Parsonsfield, ME; Robert D. Jr. and Diana MacLeod, East Falmouth, MA.; and Dr. Michael W. and Laura MacLeod, Hastings, MI. He leaves 23 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Robert joins in heaven, his 4 brothers and 2 sisters; Albert F. Exeter, NH.; Barbara A. Donovan, Exeter, NH; William D., Epping, NH., Sheila Emilio, Haverhill, MA and Donald, Newington, NH.; and James P., Florida.
Friends and family are invited to visitation hours from 4:00-7:00PM on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton, MA. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 10:00 AM in St. Anne’s Church, 75 King Street, Littleton, MA. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery, 2 Locust Grove Rd, Merrimac, MA.
