Rob passed with great sadness surrounded by friends and family, who were close to his heart after a courageous battle with leukemia. Rob was born and raised in Gloucester where he met the love of his life, Stephanie (Nicastro) Maltese. Together they shared a life of happiness on Little River.
Music was Rob's passion. His mother gave him his first guitar when he was just 12. Some of the bands Rob played in were Reverse Curve, Rock Paper Scissors and most recently, Dogtown Cats. He loved all his bandmates.
Some of Rob's other hobbies were kayaking and canoeing on Little River and his love of sports following the Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots.
Rob worked over 30 years at Varian/Applied Materials where he touched the lives of many friends who knew him for his kind soul.
Rob was the youngest of 5 born to Ignazio and Rose (Giamanco) Maltese.
He is survived by his wife Stephanie, his siblings, Josephine, (Tim Bruns), Joseph, (Svetlana), Mary, (Butch), and Peter, (Debbie) and a dear aunt Rosalie Agruso, 102 years old.
Rob is also survived by his Mother-in-Law, Grace Nicastro and in-laws, Skip and Vinnie Bertolino, Lisa Freda, John and Regina Long, Michelle Nicastro, and Philip and Christine Nicastro, many nieces and nephews, including Jesse, wife Bailey, Sierra, husband Philip, Marissa, husband Nick, Kali, Ryann, husband AJ and great-nieces Magnolia Mae, Mackenzie, Marley and great-nephew Nolan, friends, Ralph Amero, Steve Low and wife Janet, Craig Kondelin, Joe Bertolino and Greg Grace.
Rob is predeceased by his parents, Ignazio and Rose (Giamanco) Maltese and Father-in-Law, Sebastian Nicastro.
A Graveside Service will be held at Calvary Cemetery on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to local Cape Ann charities of your choice. Arrangements by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester.
